Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} PH. III FRONT BRAKES. Deletion of Lock Plates. Further to memo Ref. No. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}1/RTM.15.2.36, it was suggested :- Delete drilling - 20 - 161 dia. holes from Carrier Plate G.83397/8, also 20 Lock Plates G.83404, and fit spring washers, as the Lock Plates secure the nuts, and there is nothing to prevent the bolts from turning. All Experimental cars have been built up with spring washers (and not peaned over), including 10,000 miles test, and no troubles have been experienced. Herewith drawing Ex.I.8, showing points raised.
