PH. III REAR BRAKES.

Deletion of Oil Traps.

Further to our memo Ref. No. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/RN.{Mr Robinson}1/STM.7.4.36, it was suggested that Oil Traps G.82956/7 fitted to Brake Carrier Plate be deleted, as they serve no useful purpose. After 10,000 miles tests the conditions were satisfactory.

Bench tests proved after packing Bearing with grease and heating on six different tests, we could not get grease to run down the carrier plate.

Suggest :-

Delete drilling 8 holes in C.83399/400 Dust Covers.
" 2 each G.82956/7 Oil Catcher not reqd.
" 12 E.18342 Rivets not reqd.

Herewith drawing Ex.1.27, showing points raised.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hollingworth.
