X.8080 X.8992 You will see that the passages I had sketched are like those you shew in red on your blueprint, so they are probably the best. I like the look of your short underfed induction pipe, if this will do as well as the less neat type with longer connection and top feed. There are reasons for each being superior - for instance, over the top might be better cold, while underfed might get the greater power warm: worth rigging up both. I send you also sketches of two types of exhaust pipes as I understand we schemed them to suit the present ideas. I have added the one Mercedes have adopted, but it depends so much upon what suits the conditions: should like to try all three. It occurred to me that your turbulent head might be improved if we could put the sparking plugs at each end. It is to be regretted that we have no single cyl. arrangement that we could try this, but some day we may. I am making some progress with the straight through carburetter, but it is difficult without proper drawings. I conclude you are doing very little with this item, and we are waiting for Derby to see what they want at full speed, full throttle. Dodd and I are still very pleased with EAC.7 - power smoothness, riding, steering, starter, all seem definite improvements, wonderful when it gets on a piece of decent road, requires more care with the throttle or pulls ones head about. X.8992. I feel between Derby and Wittering we are getting good progress, and am anxious to get along quickly to receive some benefit before it is too late.
