Minutes of a Discussion between Experimental Dept, Design Dept. and Drawing Office, in connection with Phantom 3 matters and others, on December 9th 1935.

Referring to E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}2/MN.9.12.35, the following decisions were agreed upon:-

ENGINE.

Piston and Cylinder Liners.
This item was discussed and it was agreed to go slow on all parts pending the result of the investigation at present in hand by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} D.T.Y.10 rubber rings are at present shewing promise, whilst "D" specification rings are a further type to be tried.

Oil Temperature Regulator.
It was agreed to go ahead with ordering 50 sets of tubes in accordance with the original design. A design is in hand to overcome the failures which occur on the present one, and this will have to be incorporated when completed.

Hydraulic Valve Gear.
It was agreed not to order Tecalemit elements for the tappet filter. Design has been issued for a gauze filter. Design is in hand for making the metering plugs more accessible and to modify the oil feed to allow the intermediate plungers to receive a more adequate supply of oil than at present.
BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will instruct stronger low pressure relief valve spring E.86806, superseding the spring in accordance with LOP. E.86853.
BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will instruct stronger plunger springs E.86880.
BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will instruct hard drawn wire for the circlip which retains the plunger valve in position.
Design to issue scheme for a gauze pressure filter to replace the Tecalemit element.
