To EH. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} C to DJ. No copies RB{R. Bowen}/N15.1.18. X2048. Re - Charging Dynamo. We require here a small dynamo such as the Bijou which is on 49-GB. It should, however, be capable of giving about 18 volts. 5 amps. at the slowest permissible speed, that is in the neighbourhood of 1000 revs. We should prefer a vibrating regulator so that it shall give a constant electromotive force of about 15 volts. If you cannot find one of this type ^when Bijur & Bosch in stock at the Works at present not in use, please send us one of the constant current C.A.V. or Lucas type. We propose belting this to a little pump engine which we have for the object of keeping the cells charged on the R.R. car, which at present seem to run down very quickly. When you tell us the speed and we are able to find a suitable position for it we will ask you to send a suitable pulley but it will be better, we think, to get hold of the dynamo first.
