X2066. R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY7/G.13.11.29. 20 HP. HYPOID AXLE. ---------------- It is necessary to point out that we are not able to produce Hypoids on new ratios even for the same car in a similar manner to what we could with the standard Gleason helical spiral bevel. Whilst the general position of the wheel and pinion can be calculated for dimensions and shape, this invariably has to be modified by the experimental work, so that each pair of Hypoids have to be developed by Gleasons themselves. You will appreciate from this that the delay of two or three months, which has occurred has been necessitated by the requirements of the situation. The 20 HP. Hypoid gears are now in the Works, and the axle will soon be completed. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
