Higher First Speed. - Bentley. N. Sch.4556 herewith shows the modifications necessary to obtain a .425 1st speed in the present Bentley box which is required to protect the transmission from increased stress with the large bore engine. It is necessary to alter the section of the box for a short distance near the central division to allow the reverse shaft pinion to pass through. This opportunity should be taken to increase the amount of metal around the layshaft centre bearing as we show. HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
