84057 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, FRANCE. 12.12.32. 2.PER.II. We held the car up yesterday to fit softer rubbers to the clutch plate drive, also dismantled the cylinder head. <s>All the valves were examined and replaced as no sign of any cracks could be observed.</s> We have made rubber blocks out of rear buffer rubbers, and for the first test have left them solid with the exception of the slot in the top. During this morning's run the periods were still there, but not so pronounced. Probably during the remaining mileage the rubbers will settle down, as the last lot improved slightly with running. <s>The braking has improved with running and is now reasonably safe.</s> <s>We omitted to send a separate report re. failure of petrol pipe.</s> The coiled pipe from the filter to the petrol pump has again broken. The pipe broke in two close to the top union. It is evidently not flexible enough with one coil for so short a length, probably two coils would make it more flexible. [Signature] G.W.H.Hancock G.W.H.
