BODYWORK.
Apart from the draught from the roof and the bottom of the doors, a lot of draught comes up between the body sides and the frame and enters round the ends of the R.R. floorboards, infact during yesterday's run the driver was splashed with water from head to foot which had entered on the N.S. The liability of this happening applies also to the brake lever slot and requires the urgent attention of the coachbuilders. In a side wind the draughts from these sources are intolerable.

On rough roads the doors are liable to spring off the main catch and only rest on the safety catch. This remark applies to all the doors. Also the door locks are very unreliable, it being possible to work the handle after the catch has appeared to work correctly.

When removing the seats it is noticed that the screws of the centre board have worked loose; this does not apply to any other screws

SHOCK DAMPERS.
The car returned this morning with the rear O.S. shock damper bracket broken. They dismantled the damper on the road as it was causing a knock. It would not have been advisable to keep it on. we are making a new bracket out of steel plate brought over. We find that an aluminium packing piece had been fitted between the frame and the bracket. This is not advisable as the soft metal becomes squashed. The continual hammering that this damper has transmitted to the frame has caused the chassis frame to crack as per sketch. To keep the cracks from spreading, we are fitting a steel plate on either side of the frame to stiffen up this section.

We have dismantled the N.S. damper from the frame and find that there are two small cracks radiating from the top hole. This damper was not loose in any way, but the aluminium packing had become squashed similar to the O.S. The bolts were tightened up some time ago on this bracket and we had not found them to have again worked
