on sealing use fullest possible pressure ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. 19 To Order No. Customer's No. In tests carried out some time ago, it was found that the H.T sparks obtained from the old short coil were reduced considerably in intensity by enclosing the wires in an earthed metal tube. With the tall 18000 turn coil however this reduction in the spark intensity is not so noticeable the initial spark energy being greater. On account of this and also as it is desirable to reduce the tendency for induced sparking to occur it is suggestion that the best proposition is the earthed metal tube. Signed H.E.W.
