scheme does reduce the presence of raw petrol on the valve stems, and we suggest that further experiments are carried out in this matter.

As regards the grit etc. getting on to the valve stems, we understand that Springfield have now a design for enclosing these valves which has been approved by R.{Sir Henry Royce} Can this be tried out and if satis-factory also adopted on our present chassis. We also feel it should be possible to be in a position where this scheme can be applied to existing cars in order to overcome the continuous complaints.
