( 2 ) We noted that the rear union nut where the pipe from the water pump enters the induction pipe jacket is very inaccessible on account of the starting carburetter thermostat. It is impossible to undo it with any ordinary spanner. We also noted that several of the wheel case nuts are very difficult to get at with the triangular front mount member in position. No 10 push-rod was dented by the ball all round the edge of the top cup, but we think this must have occurred when the engine was originally assembled and run for the first time. The Klingerite gasket could not be used twice as it was found impossible to remove it without damaging it. A replacement was cut from sheet Klingerite. The exhaust manifold spherical joint has been lapped and put up without crinkly washers, as we have run out of spares. ------------ Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Waller. Handwritten Notes: Top left (sideways): link in design scheme. We always have to remove the Front Cross Member to get down Rod. Middle right: The new silencer system will probably not require a spherical joint. Bottom left: We are issuing a scheme to prevent this happening with the larger diameter tubes through the cylinder head, similar to what we did on PIII. | ||
