86117. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA.12.6.35. With further reference to E.2/HP.9.4.35., Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}6/E.12.5.34., and our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.8/MA.1.5.35., we send you herewith a sample of ignition cable we have had made to our specification. The special features are :- (a) The dielectric is covered with a layer of Ethylene Polysulphide patented in the U.S.A. by the name of "Thiokol". This is claimed to render the dielectric absolutely impervious to the effects of oil (hot or cold), petrol and ozone generated on the surface of the dielectric due to the presence of the earthed metal braiding. (b) The cable is covered overall by a cellulose varnished cotton fabric covering which helps to keep the cable waterproof as well as protecting the braiding from damage. We propose carrying out bench and engine tests with this cable to confirm its suitability for our purposes. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
