There is only one pig-tail per brush, and this is left bare, and is consequently fraying. The brush springs, are of the steel strip, spiral type. The armature is bar wound, and, with the exception of a coating of shellac, the conductors are bare in the slots, which are lined with presspahn, but on leaving the slots, every other one has a cotton covering. Each segment appears to be composed of two smaller segments, and the connection in places are bad.
