60111 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}8/MH.{M. Huckerby} The A.C. Sphinx Sparking Plug Co. Ltd., 1st. November 1937. Dunstable, Beds. Your Ref. FWC/DJG. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 14th ult., re the faulty speedometer, which we have now refitted to a car. We should like to know the position with regard to the two further Bentley type instruments which we have ordered. We are also interested in concave dial lighting similar to that used on the R.R. type instruments and would like you to make a further pair of instruments for use on the Bentley with this type of dial, but first would like you to arrange to visit us in the near future, and discuss details of our requirements. We are also interested in a gadget for making the pointer of the rev-counter "stay put" if the engine speed is raised above 4,500. We understand that such instruments have been made, but the object was defeated, as it was possible by shaking, or by means of a magnet, to release the pointer. We want something that will definitely "stay put". If you have anything suitable we should like it incorporating in an instrument for test. Will you please address your reply for the attention of the undersigned. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
