July 1st, 1940. W.A.Robotham, Esq., Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr.Robotham, I have given a lot of thought to our talk regarding clocks, in the endeavour to find ways and means of convincing you of the merits of our electric design. Testing one or two of this instrument is not, whatever the result, satisfactory. You will remember I suggested having, if it could be conveniently arranged, six clocks mounted on your own car which could be, if necessary, fitted in an unobserved position. I have also thought of letting you have, say, a bunch of twenty-five or fifty instruments for bench purposes but such a test would be only partly informative - to complete the picture it would be necessary for a vibrating platform to be arranged to give the effect of car conditions also some means of taking care of fluctuating battery voltage. Perhaps you would care to reflect on the matter and be good enough to let me | ||
