Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}S/ML. 3.7.40. C.W.Nicholls,Esq., Messrs S.Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, Edgware Road, London.N.W.2. Dear Mr. Nicholls, Thank you for your letter of July 1st. re electrical clocks. I am prepared to run a batch of six clocks on one of our Experimental cars to get a mean figure of merit for the instruments, but before so doing I would like to have from you a figure of merit as to how you expect these clocks to behave. In other words, if these instruments are going to gain or lose 5 minutes per week on an average, I should still expect to get severe criticism from our customers, mainly because the error would be cumulative. Yours sincerely, | ||
