To HP. 66 SP{Mr Spinney} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}4/JH.14.9.38. S.B.V. Bentley III. The following items are required for 15,000 miles test in addition to those in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Cr.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}29.8.38. Should these not be available before the car leaves England, they should follow out as soon as possible. EXS.896. Anchorage for long arm equaliser in nickel steel to replace laminated mild steel pieces. FCD.896 E.2130 Silentbloc bearings in lower triangle levers, and bracket to suit. ( If bracket not available, sleeves and distance pieces as on 7.B.V. and 1.B.50). GCD.897 Strengthened safety stop on rear brake intermediate shaft. EXS.934/5 Rebound safety stops for front suspension. Strengthened yokes with Silentbloc upper bearings, EX 7.B.V. to replace spherical top bearings. (The latter should be kept for further tests) The top yoke silentbloc bearing to be centralised under load by packings between the frame and spherical bearing housings at rear of torque arms as on 7.B.V. and 1.B.50. GCD.446 Shield for handbrake ratchet mechanism (standard on Wraith). This may require slight adaption. Strengthened yokes to give 1 1/2° caster angle. Rubber dirt excluding washers as front and rear threaded shackle pins as on Wraith. FCD.677. Welded on exhaust bracket on rear cross members and tail pipe modified to suit new damper scheme and to make exhaust pipe clear bumper bar over-rider. 12 s.w.g. s/m downtake pipe with fore and aft stays as fitted to 7.B.V. Fit Burgess silencer at present on 7.B.V. | ||
