Huckerby}14.9.38. SEMI-FLOATING REAR AXLE. The last 20 hours run on the dyno caused the pinion bearing to lose all its preload. From a visual inspection it appears that the over-run thrust outer has worn the bottom of the pinion housing. Before 8.B.V's axle is built will you please measure and record the following dimensions:- (1) Depth of pinion bearing housing. (2) Thickness of adjusting washer. (3) Thickness of retaining nut. (4) Width of each of the three outer races. On the return of the car we shall then know what has worn. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
