To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} x300 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}9/JH.16.10.36. Phantom III. Invariably after an engine has been run on the test bed and stripped down we find the soldered joints on the oil gallery and its branch pipes broken. In cases where we wish to take special precautions, such as Hall's Bentley Unit for the T.T. we have instructed silver soldering for the gallery pipe joints and have not experienced a failure. We would recommend therefore that silver soldered joints or other means be adopted in place of the present soft soldering for the job. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L.H.Swindall. | ||
