x3398 To Sn.{Mr Sanderson} from EFC. c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} c. to Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} EFC4/T7.11.22. x607 RE BETTER BATTERY FOR 40/50. x3398 Answering your D/Sn{Mr Sanderson}2/GH6.11.22 you may know that for some considerable time we have been struggling to obtain signatures for the standardisation of the Peto & Radford type B.D.11 battery for the 40/50, and though I believe Sales (particularly PN{Mr Northey}) have been asking for a better and slightly larger battery, now that we have one of these available we have not been able to obtain the signatures of Mr. Day and Mr. Royce to the standardisation of this. Only a few days ago we have had a definite statement that Mr. Royce will not agree. Their objection seems to be that the proposed battery is slightly larger, though as a matter of fact the total weight of the battery with its box is no greater than the weight of the present standard battery and box, and we have the advantage of greater durability and probably longer life. This is the only battery which we can at present recommend with any confidence as being equal to the present Exide now that a number of modifications have been standardised thereon. We are surprised at your statement that the number of complaints seems to be on the increase, as I thought it was generally understood and agreed that the No. of complaints, as mentioned at our conference in Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}'s office a little while ago, owing to better batteries and better Contd. | ||
