THE LOW SPEED JET SPINDLE - E.2691.

Mr. Royce wishes to standardise the Low Speed Jet spindle E.2691 in stainless steel instead of mild steel.
We are advised by EY. that all these parts are made and assembled with the Valve U.1360 and Guide E.17445 for "O" series, spindles also being made for "P" series.

If it were decided to immediately standardise these and scrap All spindles made, it will be seen that 1000, comprising "O" and "P" series, would become useless; to which must be added the cost of dismantling and reassembling 500 on "O" series.

The cost of a spindle in mild steel is 4/2d each, and the cost of dismantling and reassembling the Valve and Guide is estimated at 2/- per jet.

As complaints of this trouble have been very rare considering the quantity of cars fitted with mild steel spindles, we propose that the changeover should not take place until after "P" series, thus saving over £250 from scrap.
