PROPELLER SHAFT BALANCE. We have experimented on the Cadillac, whose arrangement of gear box suspension represents our suggestions for the unit construction P.3., to determine the amount of unbalance at the front end of the prop.shaft that would be noticeable by a customer. At 6.9 oz. ins. unbalance a period was just detectable at 39 m.p.h. on the overrun. At 9.0 oz.ins. several parts of the car rattled at this critical speed and the period was objectionable. On the present P.3. 1 oz.ins. unbalance would cause customers' complaints. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
