1360. To Hl. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}3/AP.22.2.37. VALVE SPRINGS. We have sent into Mr.Whitehead a valve spring which has failed on test after 3 hours running at 4000 R.P.M. on a Bentley unit. The spring is made in Swedish wire and coiled by R.R. to E.B.3256. We are particularly interested in this failure as similar springs, but made by The Tempered Spring Co., have proved very promising and have not had a failure.
