| Sft{Mr Swift} BY c. [REDACTED] Hg/Fm [REDACTED] +250 EPY6/MH.{M. Huckerby}3.9.35 re BENTLEY STEERING ------------------- Further to our EPY8/MH.{M. Huckerby}21.8.35, we have been able to obtain more information from Levallois in regard to the complaints referred to in this memo, and what was actually done to overcome the trouble. We attach hereto copy of their reply. It is a fact, of course, that we have always used Amber gear oil for the steering box of the Bentley, and the question of the Instruction Book specifying engine oil has been taken up with BY/NW.{N. Walker - Patents} As far as the use of Whitmore's Compound for the steering box is concerned, we have also appreciated, from our experience, that the use of this oil, even in the slightest form, in the steering box does overcome any sticking or seizing up trouble; at the same time, it is not recommended owing to its adverse effect at low temperatures. We have informed Levallois accordingly. As the matter is very serious, we should like to have your comments, so that we can inform Levallois further if necessary. [Handwritten Signature] EP{G.
