Dear Sirs,
We duly received your letter of the 10th inst., giving us details of your tests on the Servo Friction Discs recently supplied by us and have now received the followings comments from our Research Engineer.
"These results are certainly very interesting, although "Mintex N.M.S" which under our conditions gave the best results, seems to have received the must unfavour-able comments. The wet grinding certainly seems to be a definite advantage. The most persistent trouble appears to be squeaking, and we do not think we can offer any other material at this juncture with a view to obviating this defect.
We agree with them that a much more useful purpose would be served by tackling the question of the brake drums, and we certainly think that a alloy cast iron would make for less trouble in this direction. We would also suggest that they make an attempt completely to eliminate the resonant qualities of all the metallic components in the immediate vicinity of the friction faces, and although we have not the details of these various components we suggest that small lead plugs fitted into the surfaces, particularly to any of the unsupported type, would be a very simply means of effecting this.
If these measures fail we might then endea-vour to find a material which would give quieter operation than any of the present series they have tried."
Yours faithfully,
