Dear Sirs,

Experimental Department
Reference:- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}8/AP.

We thank you for your letter of the 28th instant referring to layout drawing of the Bearings recently supplied, and note you propose fitting shell rings as adaptors in the crankcase, but would advise that we do not recommend these, owing to the difficulty of conducting the heat away, and the possibility of hot spots on the Bearings.

The Bearing itself is a much more satisfactory job provided it is placed in a correctly bored housing. If, however, you still consider using shell rings, it will be necessary to pin them in to make intimate contact with the case to ensure that the heat is conducted away.

We shall be very pleased to hear further from you as soon as you have finished your tests.

Yours faithfully,

VANDERVELL PRODUCTS LIMITED.
