To PN.{Mr Northey} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} File Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/MS.13.3.33. 86092 Vibrator Control - 58 GN. It is not strictly true to state that the fitting of vibrator control to 58 GN. has been "a waste of time" because at the time the dynamo and regulator was fitted to the car, it constituted the best scheme we had available. We cannot understand why there has only been a charge of 5 amperes, as the dynamo, tested immediately prior to fitting to the car, gave 14 amperes at 13 volts for a safe temperature rise. The fitting of the regulator in a vertical position may have slightly affected the regulator but not to the extent suggested. A regulator fitted vertically on 3 Per. II. has given no trouble. With regard to the battery, although this may be in a bad state it would not account for the low charge as with vibrator control the lower the battery the higher the charge. We should like to try this car and ascertain the trouble as it is valuable experience and if you will suggest a suitable day, I will arrange to come up to town personally and fit the test in with a visit I am arranging to the National Bus Co. who fit large numbers of regulators to their buses. Mr. Iden who used to be associated with this concern has written in response to an enquiry of ours to say that the vibrator regulated dynamo on his P.II. has "never given me a moments trouble".
