BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} C. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5010 E1/M22.8.31. 20/25HP. BALANCE WEIGHTS AND STIFFER CRANK. We send herewith LeC.2937 shewing a scheme for the above. The weights are arranged on the Chrysler principle and are intended to completely balance the crank throw and big ends of connecting rods. R.{Sir Henry Royce} as asked us to send off this drawing today so we have been unable to complete the calculations for the exact dimensions of the balance masses. They do however shew the design and are we think approximately what is required. We should be glad if you would have the masses worked out accurately, and if in the meantime we are able to complete the balancing operations we will send you our results.
