To HA. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CC. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} CK.{Mr Clark} X.3862 X.3822 ORIGINAL 4/3/20 E2/CC/F D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (4) [5 MAR 1920] RE MODELS OF BONNETS - "VULTURE" AND "BUZZARD" CHASSIS We send you herewith drawings Nos. Loc.1210, 1211, and 1211 shewing some one-eighth scale models of the 40/50 H.P. "Vulture" and "Buzzard" bonnets for comparative purposes. Mr. Royce would like you to get these made in wood, and painted. They should be fitted with wooden running boards and sheet metal mudguards. The mudguards shewn on the drawing should not necessarily be considered exact. Mr. Royce would like you to take a good example of mudguards at the Works and make the model a copy of them. The Models should also be fitted with axles and wheels. One set of these latter only will be required, as the bonnet and frame portion for each chassis can be slotted underneath, so as to change the wheels and axles from one model to the other. The axles can be pieces of brass rod with some feature on them to locate them endways. Model wheels can be turned up in wood. As shewn on the drawing, the shape of the side channels should be painted on the wooden model. Would you kindly have these models made up and sent to Wittering as soon as possible for Mr. Royce's inspection. It should be further mentioned that the instrument boards are identical in dimensions and position for each chassis, and a scuttle should be shaped to suit each bonnet and the instrument board.
