We have found that the double geared handle which you have sent us only fits one 40/50 at present in London, i.e. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s car. This jack handle cannot be used on any of the other cars in our possession.

We do not propose to file the squares on the jack shaft in order to make this handle fit, as it would be most inconvenient to have to do this in order to use the handle with every car that comes in. We approached Messrs Sessions, who said that they could alter the handle to suit the jacks on the present chassis, but that this would mean the softening and re-hardening of the squares in the jack handle and the fitting of slightly different sized gears, and this they do not advise. Messrs Sessions further informed us that the handle you have sent us is suitable only for the last batch of jacks delivered to the Works by them, and which no doubt have not yet been fitted to chassis and will not be until the Works have disposed of earlier stocks.

Therefore, it seems to us that in order to use this handle we must either wait until the jacks come through of the size for which it is suitable or you should send us a jack handle of a similar type made to suit the existing jacks that are at present on cars in our possession or going through our hands.

Will you please let us know what you wish us to do.
