6135. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.7/MA.31.1.34. ILLUMINATION OF 20/25 AND 40/50 CHASSIS INSTRUMENT BOARD. On these two chassis we can really afford to have two extra lamp bulbs for the purposes of illumination. On the Bentley we virtually have double the illumination due to the speedometer and rev-clock being separately illuminated. If we had one lamp at each extreme end of the patch it would make a big difference to the illumination of the outer edges of the clock and the speedometer dials as well as improving the whole general illumination. We think therefore as an immediate improvement this would meet Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s objections. The further ideas on illumination similar to the Terraplane must be very experimental for some time. If you agree with our suggestion perhaps you will arrange for a scheme to be instructed.
