For the attention of C.Falconer,Esq.,

Dear Sir,

Re: Dashboards - Bentley type chassis.

We send you herewith print of F.CD.532 shewing the dashboard which will be fitted to the chassis of 1.B.50, and 2.B.5. The dashboard is attached to the chassis by means of a Floatex bush at each side, and it is intended that it should be bolted to the face of the scuttle rigidly. The only support for the rear of the bonnet will be on the scuttle. The same dashboard is used for both cars, although the bonnet of one is bigger than the other; the face of the scuttle being flanged down in order to pick up this dashboard.

The top hinge of the bonnet is the Widney type and clearance for this has been shewn to you already on F.CD.185. Whilst the side hinge demands a clearance which is indicated on this drawing and which should extend as a groove into the lower level of the scuttle side.

We show a ledge on the dashboard for supporting the floorboards, a suitable ledge should be provided in the scuttle and on the body bottom sides to carry these boards also. It is intended that the floorboards rest entirely on the body and be made by the coachbuilder.

We shall send you a design of the scheme in due course, but since these bodies will be mounted in Derby, we shall make the floorboards here after the bodies have been mounted. With this drawing we clear up the remaining outstanding information which will enable you to Cont'd....
