Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

For the attention of W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq.

Dear Sirs,

Installation of 40 m.m. Rolls-Royce Gun
in Beaufighter.

We enclose herewith two copies each of drawings Nos. K.14154-5-6 which we have prepared to show the keel alterations, reinforcements and linings which are required to suit your installation. Copies of these drawings are being forwarded simultaneously to A.G.M.E., Duxford.

One further drawing is being prepared showing the holes in beam to take the rear mounting and the changing of certain 1/4" B.S.F. bolts in front and rear spars to 3/8" B.S.F. and this should be completed to-morrow.

The above drawings have been prepared on the assumption that the di-pole aerial is situated externally on your aircraft. If this is not so and the aerial is mounted internally it will be necessary to remove this and its housing. Drawings showing this latter modification will be supplied immediately we are advised that you require them.

Further, the drawings show the ejection orifice on port side only as required for the Duxford installation. For the two gun installation in your aircraft at Hucknall the starboard keel will need to be altered to the particulars shown for the port keel.

Yours faithfully,

L G Frise
Chief Designer.

Enclosures.
