COUNTERBALANCED HOOD HAVING TWO GLASS WINDOWS IN OPPOSITE SIDES ALL AIR TIGHT JOINTS INSIDE DIMENSIONS 3.0 x 1.10 x 2.0 HIGH LOCATION FOR RECEIVING CARBURETTOR ADAPTOR PLATE THIS IS BOLTED TO THE TABLE TOP AND HAS HOLES TAPPED TO RECEIVE SET SCREWS HOLDING DOWN THE ADAPTOR PLATE THE ADAPTOR PLATE IS HELD DOWN BY SET SCREWS COUNTERBORED FLUSH AND HAS STUDS TO RECEIVE THE CARBURETTOR UNDER TEST ALL AIR TIGHT JOINTS DIMENSION A NOT LESS THAN 4½" DIA. CARBURETTOR TABLE WITH MERCURY TROUGH TO PROVIDE AIR TIGHT SEAL FOR HOOD MIXTURE SEPARATING TANK IMPORTANT TO KEEP VOLUME LARGE A MAXIMUM DEPRESSION OF APPROX 20 INCHES MERCURY TO BE WITHSTOOD COLLECTING TANK FOR FUEL RECOVERED FROM SEPARATING TANK. FLOW TO THE TANK IS INDUCED BY DEPRESSION IN THE MAIN VACUUM PIPE PLATE FOR ENTRY OF PIPES TO THE CHAMBER WHEN SEALED. THE FOUR ENTRIES PROVIDED ARE USED FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE OF THE DEPRESSION MANOMETER, FUEL LINE, THERMOMETER CABLE, AND SPARE THE THROTTLE CONTROL ROD ENTERS THE CHAMBER THROUGH AN AIRTIGHT GLAND. IT IS ROTATED BY A LEVER CARRYING A POINTER WHICH INDICATES ON A SUITABLY DIVIDED SCALE STUBS TO PREVENT AIR BEING DRAWN IN UNDER TUBING. AIR INLET PIPE MIN INT DIA 6" WATER MANOMETER TO RECORD CARBURETTOR DEPRESSION UP TO 4½" MERCURY. AT WHICH DEPRESSION A CUT OUT VALVE OPERATED. THE VALVE CONSISTS OF A LOADED PISTON WHICH IS RAISED VERTICALLY BY A GIVEN DEPRESSION AND SO BLOCKS THE SUCTION LINE ORIFICE PLATE HAVING SHARP EDGE ORIFICES TO MEASURE AIR FLOW THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE RANGE (I.E. 0-30 LB/MIN). THIS HAS A GROUND TOP SURFACE ON WHICH GROUND STEEL PLATES MAY BE SLID TO COVER ORIFICES NOT IN USE ORIFICE TANK HAS A MERCURY TROUGH TO PROVIDE SEAL FOR PLATE. DEPRESSION IN THE TANK WILL NOT EXCEED 5" WATER MIN. STEAM COCK TO CONTROL AIR TEMP IN THE HOOD WATER TO THE VACUUM PUMP MAIN PETROL TAP BETWEEN TANK AND PIPETTES VACUUM PUMP MOTOR CONTROLS GATE VALVE IN THE SUCTION-EXHAUST BLEED LINE EXHAUST TILTED MANOMETER FOR RECORDING AIR FLOW THE HIGH PRESSURE LEG CONSISTS OF A FLAT RESERVOIR OF LARGE CAPACITY. THE TOP END OF THE TUBE RUNS INTO A LARGE RESERVOIR WHICH ACTS AS A TRAP FOR FLUID DRAWN OVER BY EXCESS DEPRESSION. THE TWO ARE CONNECTED BY A PIPE WITH A NEEDLE VALVE IN IT HENCE ZERO LEVEL ON THE MANOMETER MAY BE ADJUSTED.
