Failures in chromium plating and suggesting a more reliable and cost-effective method using a nickel undercoat.

I have recently seen several failures of this both from our own and other sources, and it occurred to me that providing a substantial coating of nickel is adopted, the thinner (i.e. very thin bright deposit,) coating of chromium may be the more reliable.
