ENCLOSURE No 670 We have already got busy changing steering tubes, and have supplied all our Depots in various countries with plenty of these tubes, and have given them instructions to press forward the immediate change of these. We are also going to send men to the various Coachbuilders and other places, where we are likely to get hold of cars with steering tubes to change. We do not propose to send men worrying customers on this change, we do not think the matter is serious enough for such a drastic measure, and further, we are afraid that this visiting of customers might become a nuisance, and also it is a considerable source of expense. With reference to the cross steering lever, I am sending you a copy of Mr. Day's report, from which you will see Mr. Day is of the opinion that any danger from this lever is remote. It must also be remembered that the only cross steering arm known to have broken, is one on Mr. Angas' car, which had done over 100,000 miles on Australian roads.
