Messrs Rolls-Royce Limited.,
DERBY.

For the attention of the
Managing Director.

Dear Sirs,

Together with some friends in the City I am interested in a new development in connection with internal combustion engines, namely a silencer, which has been developed in Sweden.

We have had our men over there and witnessed various tests which certainly are very impressive. The claim is that the apparatus is very simple and cheap. It practically extinguishes all sound and at the same time does not appreciably reduce the power of the engine. These are big claims but we believe them to be substantially correct and we want to have proper tests carried out in this country.

The demonstrations in Sweden concerned an aero engine, of about 500 H.P., a standard Chevrolet motor car engine and a motor cycle engine.

We should like to carry out similar tests here and I venture to approach you with a request that you might allow us to fit silencers to engines which are on your testing stand at your Works. This I hope would not cause much inconvenience and it would be extremely valuable to us. Naturally we should be only too pleased to pay for any expense incurred.

The silencer is applicable to any kind of explosion engine, not only to the three categories mentioned above.

If this is at all possible I should be glad to come to Derby to discuss the matter further with you.

Some very substantial people are interested in our little syndicate and should developments prove a success all the capital required is available. I am, Yours faithfully,
HUNTINGTON, HEBERLEIN & CO.LTD.

(J.O.Boving) Chairman.
