Dear MR. Sidgreaves,

I was delighted to have the opportunity with Mr. Bailey, Mr. Falconer and Mr. Finney to have a short run yesterday in 1-B-50, and regret Mr. Robotham did not accompany us.

At the meeting in Mr. Hives' office, I was disturbed to gather from Mr. Robotham that the body had shown itself to be unsatisfactory, and was consequently agreeably surprised to find on riding in the car that the body, on the whole, was a particularly nice one.

We first tried the car with the body scuttle rigidly anchored to the chasis by means of the special brackets made up at Derby. The only defects which could be noticed were:-

(1) The screen dithered mildly at the corners when slightly open at 30 m.p.h. upwards.

(2) There were rattles in the glasses in each front door when partially dropped.

As regards (1), this may be due to the very narrow front pillars - the first of their kind - introduced in the interest of visibility. We may have to stiffen these up, but would rather defer a decision until the car has seen further service.

With regard to (2), the rattles were due to the omission of metal channels at the back ends of the pivoted ventilators, the absence of which gives a lighter
