X4333 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from EFC. EFC5/T1.11.23. X.4333 - GOSHAWK DYNAMO ARMATURE. We are handing you herewith the armature taken from 49-GB dynamo. We have found an earth on this armature and an incorrect drop test, and we think it is due to copper cuttings from the process of undercutting having got down between the end of the commutator and the insulating ring, and getting in contact with the steel, as can be seen in two places. We can probably clear this ourselves, but considered it would be better for you to see the effect. In order not to hold the job up, we are utilising the armature from machine No.161, the commutator of which you have previously undercut for us by this process, and which is quite O.K. on similar test.
