45770 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} R2/M30.9.25. g/18-G-111 X.5770 X.5840 This car was never quite right, because it always behaved the same. It has been corrected by adjusting the clearance of the 6 rear valves which were too close, and spoiled the slow running, so inducing the low speed jet to be set too strong. You will remember I thought it had a bad induction pipe. The high speed jet has now been strengthened (relatively). Amongst other faults the consumption was bad. I was very disappointed with its behaviour. It is now splendid. It may be stretching valves, but I am not sure the report from France is exactly correct. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
