RR 238 (150 BKS.) (D3 431-B 12 24) MP 306975 X6004. ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To EFC Order No. PD 51 Customer's No. Investigation of Finer Field Winding on 43 Coil Medium Output Type Dynamo. In these experiments, the laboratory representative 40/50 medium-output machine, SSX, was used. This machine had the standard field winding of 19 SWG wire removed, and a winding of 20 SWG D.C.C wire fitted in its place. The resistance of this 20 gauge field winding was 4.77 ohms at 18°c as compared with 3.46 ohms of the standard winding. The tests were mainly composed of leading and output observations, made with various B angles; angles of 6°, 10°, 14° and 18° being chosen and the results compared with those obtained with similar B angles on the machine arranged as normally. For each position of the main brushes, the control brush was set in the usual manner to give the specified rise in temperature, of 55 to 58°c Signed Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
