For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst.

Dear Sirs,

With regard to the proposed flat on thermostat spindle for units which you are supplying to us, we have made arrangements to supply the spindles with the flat machined on them.

Our Mr.Lappin recently handed two rheostats for car heaters to the writer as being samples submitted in response to his request for a smaller unit than that already fitted to his car. These rheostats were identical in design with units which we have already had from you and which we do not consider satisfactory as they become very stiff in action in time. We are returning them herewith, together with another unit of the same type which has given trouble in this manner.

Actually we are now using a unit obtained from Messrs. AC-Sphinx Ltd., which has none of the disadvantages of your unit and can be purchased much more cheaply.

Incidentally, the writer has never received the sample thermostat with bellows built up from diaphragms which you promised to send him.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
