ALUMINIUM AIR VALVE. ************************* It is important that the Experimental Dept. should try out some cast air valves produced in Hl's new chromium alloy, which I understand he considers to be very much more impervious to corrosion than any of the present alloys on the market. In addition to the foregoing, we ordered, two or three months ago, from the Cindal Company, air valves produced in non-corrodible alloy, produced by them. We have received a rough sample of their proposals, but there were some cracks in the casting which they thought they could overcome, and we are therefore awaiting further deliveries. We are handing the casting in question to HHC, because it may happen that the cracks, which are contraction effects, may machine out. It is worth while, in view of the delay in getting the other material, to try machining this part. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
