In the afternoon I went to Longs to talk about clutches. He was at Sapiars so I did not see him. Jackson or Packard was he wants to see also. They recommend a 12" clutch for the Phocle, it works perfectly on the Packard at 300 lbs/ft. The Zephyr of 275 lbs/ft has 10" clutch. The V8 Cadillac " 11" clutch. The antipressure weights used nowadays are to prevent excessive Ribbing during full throttle getaway & for do not run as much as the springs. They rely on a few of .25" for their woven linings. This is 'Hyco' and obtainable from Raybestos. I have a sample Packard clutch. For clutch lined drawings check up with Tim Entwistle as a 10" B & B Bentley competition clutch copper asbestos is to lubricate is provided. A.{Mr Adams} Smith has 3 of these for test. Today we want to see Hives and talk slow running and crank dampers. They are convinced the only way to get good slow running is to reduce the overlap on the camshaft. | ||
