From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).
And diagrams discussing methods for increasing engine power via intake and exhaust system design.

Some of the lost power is then put back by
obtaining running effects in various phases by
bends in exhaust & intake systems. They say one
can generally put 5 to 6 m.e.p. by 300 inlet order by reducing the radius making a venturi throat and
below the valve stem & head as far as possible
consistent with strength. They adapt the flow
running on new type engines complete with
an intake & exhaust system by contraction mechanism
in each cylinder with a thermocouple. exhaust
pipes thus.

would probably give more power
