Remarks: This is largely a seasonable complaint but with the new large gap radiator matrix with indented tubes, and in exceptional cases, louvred bonnet, this can be definitely cured. Copper matrix tubes with increased indentations are now standard. Depot Sheet No. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}171 deals fully with this complaint. Loss of water is often due to over-filling. Recommended water level on Ph.II cars is to be lowered.

Remarks: An improved type of coupling with machine riveted driving plates is now being used on all Ph.I and Ph.II cars. See Depot Sheets Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/163/167/180/194. The new coupling is fitted whenever there are signs of failure of the original coupling. A 50% larger coupling is now being used on Production cars.
