Referring to your memo. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/M10/6/25, it is evident that the sub-frame cannot be introduced into 'X' Series unless it has completed its 10,000 miles trial by the 13th July, as the first batch of material for the 'X' series has to be ordered by that date.

In any case we have no bodies on order for the 'X' Series. Coachbuilders do not usually put their bodies in hand for stock until 5 or 6 months before they are fitted to the chassis so that, in the unlikely event of the sub-frame being standardised for the 'X' series, we need not warn coachbuilders until about August next.

You will have noted from my memo. CJ1/D4/6/25, that Mr.Royce's principal wish is that the new side levers should be introduced, his intention being that the sub-frame could then be standardised and fitted to chassis as soon as the sub-frame has passed its 10,000 miles trial, but I think that he would wish that the 10,000 miles trial of the new gearbox should not be delayed because the designs in connection with the sub-frame are not sufficiently advanced.

The point we have to bear in mind, therefore, is to put the new gearbox case and the side levers through a 10,000 miles trial as soon as possible.

CJ.
