Front Springs (700 lbs. type)

All spring leaves are rusty at the front end, especially on the Near side. There are no signs of lubrication having reached this point. This was traced to a faulty Bijur Meter Valve now in the possession of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} Near end of springs; general condition good. Front shackle pins badly rusted due to valve failure.

Flywheel and Clutch - Borg and Beck "U" type.

Pressure plate worn badly on two lugs by the clutch casing. (max. wear .023") also distorted (.006" maximum) on friction surface.
Clutch cover badly worn in two slots by lugs on pressure plate. (wear .013", see Ex.I.68) this excessive wear on two of the four driving lugs has resulted in the pressure plate becoming displaced and causing the crankshaft to become unbalanced, the compressed thickness of the friction plate was uniform over the whole area.
Crankshaft pilot bearing (R.{Sir Henry Royce} & M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} No.L.J.25.E.) with Oilite cage. General condition good. (.0085" end float)
