We wired you yesterday to do some cooling tests on the 20 HP. in the Clermont mountains.

They have decided to push forward the introduction of 17-G type of chassis and we are therefore anxious to know whether the car is likely to over-heat under Continental conditions of gradient and temperature.

If the car does not appear adequately cooled, two steps we can easily take are :

(1) Fit rear ventilating shutter baffles to the bonnet.
(2) Push the fan close to the radiator.

We found by tests here that by pushing the fan to within ¼" of the radiator appears to to improve the cooling efficiency very considerably. You could probably arrange to move your fan to try this out.

At present the 20 HP. is not fitted with bonnet shutters. There is no reason why we should not get them to fit bonnet shutters on production if it is found that they are necessary and that they do any good.

With reference to your report on Centrepoint Lubrication. We note that you consider the Mechanics Joints are O.K. contd :-
